BOTOX® has been available for over 15 years, being used for therapeutic as well as cosmetic uses. BOTOX® Cosmetic has been FDA approved for cosmetic treatment of glabellar rhytides since 2003. Much of its use can be considered "off-label", meaning it is being used in a way that is not yet approved by the FDA but is determined to be safe in the hands of experienced physicians. Drs. Roper, Moreland and Bickle have been using BOTOX® for cosmetic use since 1996, and have volumes of experience in the use of this medication.
BOTOX® is a purified protein derivative of botulinum toxin, however there is no botulism bacteria in the product. Small amounts of the product, if used correctly, are very safe. It is important that this product be used only in a medical setting and not in a hair salon, in order in ensure safe use of this product. We promote legislation to this end.
"We love to use BOTOX® Cosmetic in combination with other procedures, in order to enhance results and prevent overuse of this product. It works wonderfully when used in combination with dermal fillers, as well as with laser resurfacing and laser toning treatments", states Drs. Roper, Moreland and Bickle. "We use BOTOX® Cosmetic as a means to an end, to fix problems that the overly tight musculature on the face can cause, such as crows feet and forehead/frown lines. We've found that BOTOX® Cosmetic lasts a lot longer when combined with our other rejuvenation treatments."
Please Contact our Florida Dermatologists Dr. Susan S. Roper, Dr. Adele A. Moreland and Dr. Kelly M. Bickle in their Clearwater office at 727-791-1411 for more detailed information regarding the entire procedure.
